The beloved body-swap comedy that captured hearts over two decades ago is getting a fresh chapter as Disney releases the first trailer for "Freakier Friday," reuniting original stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan in their fan-favorite roles.

The newly released preview shows Curtis and Lohan back as mother-daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman, who find themselves entangled in supernatural circumstances once again after visiting a psychic played by "Saturday Night Live" veteran Vanessa Bayer. Despite pretending not to remember their previous body-swapping experience, the pair soon face a new magical twist - this time involving Anna's biological daughter and stepdaughter.

While introducing a new generation to the body-swapping premise, the sequel appears to include several nostalgic references to the 2003 hit film, which itself was based on Mary Rodgers' 1972 novel.

The reunion comes after both actresses expressed interest in revisiting their roles during a 2023 interview with the New York Times marking the original film's 20th anniversary. Curtis revealed that fan enthusiasm during her "Halloween Ends" promotional tour convinced her to approach Disney about continuing the story.

"Jamie and I are both open to that, so we're leaving it in the hands that be," Lohan had commented at the time. "We would only make something that people would absolutely adore."

The upcoming film features an ensemble cast including Mark Harmon, Rosalind Chao, Chad Michael Murray, Manny Jacinto, Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. Audiences can experience the magical mayhem when "Freakier Friday" hits theaters on August 8.
