First-Half Dominance
Forest stunned the home crowd early when Callum Hudson-Odoi pounced on a careless mistake from Jacob Murphy to fire the visitors ahead in the 6th minute. Newcastle, however, responded like a team possessed.
Lewis Miley kickstarted the comeback, smashing in a cross from Lewis Hall.
Murphy quickly redeemed himself, bundling home from close range after Alexander Isak’s stunning backheel set up Hall.
Isak then made it 3-1 from the penalty spot, humiliating Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels with a cheeky chipped finish.
The Swedish striker struck again minutes later, finishing off Joe Willock’s brilliant play to make it 4-1 before halftime.
Forest Fight Back
Despite their commanding lead, Newcastle lost their intensity in the second half, allowing Nikola Milenkovic to pull one back. The tension escalated in the 90th minute when substitute Ryan Yates made it 4-3, setting up a nervy finish.
Ultimately, Newcastle held on, but the game served as a reminder of their explosive potential—and their vulnerability when they take their foot off the gas.
