According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the quake’s epicenter was along the 900 block of North Ford Street in Burbank, at a depth of 9.5 miles. The shaking was described as light under the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale, meaning it was strong enough to rattle dishes, windows, and feel like a heavy truck hitting a building. Tremors were reported across the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles Basin, and San Gabriel Valley. However, no damage or injuries were reported, according to the Burbank Police Department, which confirmed no emergency calls related to the quake as of 10:30 p.m.

The quake occurred less than a mile from Los Angeles, two miles from Glendale, four miles from Beverly Hills, and four miles from West Hollywood. In the last 10 days, only one other magnitude 3.0 or greater earthquake was recorded nearby. On average, the Greater Los Angeles area experiences five earthquakes in the 3.0 to 4.0 magnitude range per year.
