The upcoming film reimagines the beloved 2002 animated feature that captured hearts with its heartwarming tale of an isolated Hawaiian girl who forms an unexpected bond with a mischievous alien fugitive, together working to repair her fractured family.

Award-winning filmmaker Dean Fleischer Camp takes the directorial helm, working from a screenplay crafted by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright and Mike Van Waes. The production boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, and Tia Carrere, who returns to the franchise after voicing Nani in the original animated version. The cast also includes Hannah Waddingham, Chris Sanders (reprising his role as the voice of Stitch), Courtney B. Vance, and Zach Galifianakis, with newcomer Maia Kealoha making her debut as Lilo.

The production team includes accomplished producers Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin, with Tom Peitzman, Ryan Halprin, Louie Provost, and Thomas Schumacher serving as executive producers.

This release marks Disney's continued strategy of revisiting its animated classics with live-action interpretations, following successful adaptations of titles like "The Lion King," "Aladdin," and "The Little Mermaid."
